Krazy Glue

I love to fix things for my daughter.

She always brings them with great confidence that I can fix all things. Eventually, I will fail her, but I'm enjoying the season when most fixes are within my reach.

When she was very young, we attended her daycare school's fall festival where she acquired a two-inch-tall rubber skeleton man. He happened to be the same aqua color as her "Queen Elsa" dress that she was wearing. Yes, she was Queen Elsa that evening and many others.

She loved stretching his legs and arms to the limit...until his left arm came off with a snap. Half surprised and half delighted that what she feared would happen actually happened. Like any EMS guy, I made sure she didn't lose the detached limb—no tourniquet needed. Krazy Glue applied and an afternoon to heal, he was ready to go the next time she was in my office and spied him sitting on my desk. After simple explanations about how fragile his left arm would always be, time would tell how he would fare in the hands of a toddler.

When I was a junior in college, I sprained my ankle playing volleyball. At the net, I went up to block and came down on an opponent's foot. Those closest by heard my ankle tear. Immediately it swelled as I sat on the gym floor. For the next three years, I had to favor my right ankle.

God has healed many of our wounds. Our bodies and our souls bear scars attesting to that healing. Sometimes we are restored completely. Sometimes we are not. I am vulnerable to a particular shift or movement...I'm old. I need to be careful with my back and other joints. Both our physical bodies and our inner-selves await a complete healing that will come on Resurrection Day.

God loves to fix things for his children.
